Dr. Shrestha completed Master’s Degree in Botany from Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Nepal in 1996 and PhD in Mycology (Cordyceps biology and cultivation) from Kangwon National University, South Korea in 2003.

Biography

Dr. Shrestha completed Master’s Degree in Botany from Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Nepal in 1996 and PhD in Mycology (Cordyceps biology and cultivation) from Kangwon National University, South Korea in 2003. He has also worked as a post-doctoral researcher/Senior Researcher at National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Sungkyunkwan University, Catholic Kwandong University and Mushtech Cordyceps Institute in South Korea and Green Energy Mission/Nepal in Kathmandu, Nepal. He has presented his work in China, Mexico, Thailand, Peru and Vietnam, and has authored and co-authored 70+ peer-reviewed scientific articles. He has also served as a peer reviewer for many national and international journals. Recently, a new fungal genus ‘Bhushaniella’ was established in honor of his contribution to the knowledge of arthropod-pathogenic fungi. He has been nominated as a member of the Editorial Board of Mycoscience (a publication of Mycological Society of Japan) (2024-2027) and has delivered a Plenary lecture at Mushroom Science Virtual 2025, organized by the Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology-Special Interest Group: Mushroom Science on October 29, 2025. He has extensively travelled in Chitlang in connection with the survey of agricultural genetic resources, crop diseases and soil fertility and management in collaboration with NARC, NPDA and ATC.
